Week 1: Prayer Action Points

“The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD; he directs it like a watercourse wherever he pleases” (Prov. 21:1).

If your thoughts wander during your prayer time, instead of trying to force them back into your pre-set agenda, try following them. Perhaps the Lord has another agenda.

Share your thoughts and experiences as you incorporate this action point this week.

Interesting concept because mine do wander often. So many prayer requests

  2. Kathy S says:

So enjoyed studying living praying life, looking forward to a new year in prayer.

  3. Dottie Bachtell says:

This ADD pray-er has found that God often draws my mind to where He wants it to go in prayer. Sometimes I mis-take it as ‘thought wandering’ and I Fight to Focus (What I constantly have to do in this structured world of ours). But, through the years I’ve learned to Go with God rather than Fight to Focus, and I’ve found His Prayer Purpose rather than mine. These moments are rich and God-Sparkling!

  4. MaryAnn James says:

Thanks for letting me know it is okay. I’ve often felt God was trying to talk to me during prayer time. When my thoughts go to others, I just lift them up in prayer. When it seem to be a situation or event, I pray God’s blessing/grace/wisdom to be imparted.

  5. A student says:

  6. Wayne Farmer says:

When your mind wanders, as often happens to me, just thank God for bringing your thoughts back to Him. And proceed to pray.

  7. Kris Willett says:

I’m an ADD pray-er, too. And it will really take some work to follow those trails as I, too Fight to Focus. Thanks, Jennifer!

  8. lynn campbell says:

I empathize with the ADD pray ers. I am one also. This helps so I don’t have to try and focus. Thanks

  9. Lately my thoughts wander to those 20 young children dead in a clasroom,it haunts me,I am so fed up with gun rights it makes me ill..The deaths keep pilling up and all my prayers do not change it.I would gladly have taken their place.Jesus took our place tosave us from the wrath of the Lord.So I taken up this cause .When I talked with the Lord I sensed this was the right direction. So I will haunt them with questions till things change. This losing fights are sometimes the most important ones we can ever make.

  10. Looking forward to receiving your blog. I’ve been wanting to dig deeper in the prayer life.
